ATV SEASON
The ATV season begins as early as the weather allows, after the spring thaw, and continues until after Labor Day in September. Depending on the weather, even into October or later.
ATV TRAIL RIDING 2010
As of Summer, 2010, the Black Hills is an open forest unless posted closed, just like 2009. We are free to ride on the many miles of trails that have been used as forest access, fire trails, or hunting roads in years past. Mad Mountain offers quads to allow you access to the beautiful scenery only experienced off-road. As you can see from the pictures here, the trails are comfortable, and gorgeous.
"Are the trails marked?" is the question of the hour. The short answer is "No." The trails are worn and the geographic terrain helps riders find their way back everytime. Also, we have developed a basic and effective map of the immediate area which is available at our office to assist in your ADVENTURE!

The Black Hills Forest is governed by the USFS. Adherence to the requlations become the responsibility of the operator. Visit the USFS HOME page at www.fs.fed.us , then select
MAPS & PUBLICATIONS, then locate the
"Travel Information Map." This map shows all the trails that are available for off-road
use in 2010.
HELMETS FOR EVERYONE
Helmets are included in the rental of an ATV. We strongly encourage everyone to accept a helmet. SD helmet laws apply to those under the age of 18.
